Didn’t your mother ever tell you not to play with your food? Boy, are we glad that Turkish Instagrammer Shenaz Kayhan didn’t get that memo!

Kayhan is one of those über creative souls that can look at cabbage and see an evening dress with a matching hat. Seriously, we look at colorful vegetables and think, “Yummy.” The thought never occurred to us to turn them into a scene from Willy Wonka or a smart little garden!

That’s why we love seeing things like this! The awesome ideas that people put out allow us to think of things in a new light, to see things from an entirely different perspective. One person’s roma tomato is another person’s mushroom cap … that statement only makes sense in the context of this story.

It’s easy to see why Kayhan’s account has nearly 2000 followers. She routinely updates with colorful and inventive pictures of salads and other foods that are both imaginative and delicious looking. We know, there’s also a saying about dishes looking too pretty to eat. We don’t have this issue. We would pillage that little seaside village scene so fast….

This house is made out of salad? You shut the fresh door!

And, next on the runway we have our model Grated Jicama sporting a whimsical cabbage frock, topped with a smart pepper hat.

Some people might look at this and say, “Ooh, a butterfly.” We say, “Lunch!”

Chokers are so last season. Looks like we’ll have to eat you for your fashion crimes.

You guys, doesn’t this look just like that room in Willy Wonka’s factory with that chocolate river that sucked a kid up into the ceiling? How awesome would it be if we remade that movie with veggies? It could be all, “Oompa loompa doopity doo, I’ve got another parsnip for you.”

The next time I go out for a salad, it’s just not going to live up to this.

It just looks so pretty and fresh and cheerful … too bad we’re going to devour it!

Some people see kiwi and pomegranate seeds and think of antioxidants while others think of peacocks, but all of us think delicious.

I’d like to be … under the sea … in an octopus’s garden, on a plate (we love you Ringo).

Can you imagine how much people have to step up their game when potluck day rolls around at Shenaz Kayhan’s workplace?

The little celery people that these clothes belong to are just out of frame.

Making something that looks like a food out of a food that it isn’t is, like, food-ception.

Hey bird, it’s pretty awesome that you look so happy, but we regret to inform you that the sun is now a carrot. That doesn’t bode well for life on earth, just sayin’.

It’s like a little crudité scene from Lost. “We have to go back Kate! It was so delicious!”

Is he giving us a thumbs up? Like, “Hey guys, it’s cool if you eat me. No seriously, I’m a chef, I know when things are tasty and I’m darn tasty.”
