Ana Finta, a Austria-based artist, makes incredibly awesome art from the stuff we consume every day — food! What’s more: it’s all vegan!

Two years ago, Ana set out to try eating vegan for a month. But she became so intrigued by the lifestyle that it stuck. “Two years ago, I felt very uncomfortable with myself,” she says. “I wanted to do something against it, to change something. I just felt that going vegan might be the answer and the way to a healthier and happier self.”

Once she began researching into vegan food further, Ana states she just couldn’t go back to the way she was before. “First it started as a project. I wanted to try it out for a month. At the same time, I did a lot of research regarding vegan nourish[ment]and lifestyle. I talked with vegan friends, read books, and watched documentaries like Earthlings. And I made up my mind and came to the conclusion that it just wasn’t right to go back to my old lifestyle.”

And, fortunately for all of those who appreciate beauty, this lifestyle change shifted to her plates. She did begin her food art before she came vegan, but she now differentiates between her old art and her current art: “now it’s cruelty-free… and it shows how versatile [vegan food] can be!”

Ana attributes her inspiration for the beautiful plate arrangements to existing art and nature. “Most of my inspiration comes from art. And I love being in nature, surrounded by its beauty. My little food art is like a tribute to it.”

What makes this even cooler is that Ana buys responsibly — and doesn’t let any of her art go to waste once it’s been photographed: “I respect food, I am not just playing around with it. I try to buy only organic food from local farmers. And of course, I eat all food creations — there is no waste in anyway.”
