A small family living in the country is used to seeing a slew of wild animals up close. Fox kits, wild turkeys … you name it! Although this family definitely respects the animals by watching them from a safe distance and avoiding much contact, they had to push aside their regular wildlife safety techniques in order to help a baby deer.
It was unknown if the fawn — named Calley by her caretakers — was abandoned or separated from her mother, but it was clear that a lot of love and care was needed to help the baby survive. After some time, the deer was old and healthy enough to be released into the wild.
While some animals may just run for the hills without a second glance, Calley decided to visit her adoptive family every day after her release. Six years later, Calley still returns to the property where she grew up. She even brought her own fawns with her in the summer for a quick visit to grandma and grandpa’s house! How adorable!
