We all know of the undying love and loyalty dogs have for their owners, but this story shows that a dog’s devotion can be miraculous.
A couple found a stray dog wandering around their home in South Africa and started leaving him food and water every night. As often happens, the dog and the couple soon adopted each other and became great friends.
Months later, the dog was injured in a tragic car accident. The couple rushed him to Mdzananda Animal Clinic, near Cape Town, where x-rays determined that his pelvis was crushed to the point where he would never walk again. Vets decided he would have to be put down.
When the clinic’s animal welfare assistant, Lazola, called the owners in to tell them the sad news, a miracle happened: in spite of his injury, the dog stood up and walked to them.
Instead of putting the dog down as planned, vets decided to place him on long-term cage rest. Now, he is back home with his owners and walking again!
This story shows that animals can find the will to live and overcome the impossible after others give up hope. This dog’s incredible transformation joins the many others we celebrate at One Green Planet.
