Buzz Petition

We love when celebrities use their public voice and position of influence to make a positive impact on the world. The chart-topping singer Sia, who has stated she is vegan, has spoken up for animals and recently partnered with BARK to raise money for shelter animals. Now she has been asked to be a new face for MAC Cosmetics, and animal activists do not approve.

A petition on Care2 explains that MAC, similarly to NARS, conducts animal tests in order to sell in China, which requires all cosmetics to be tested on animals.

There is nothing beautiful about the life lab animals (typically rabbits in the cosmetics industry) are forced to endure. Their eyes and skin burn from chemicals as they are kept confined in cramped metal cages with no access to fresh air or sunlight. They are treated like disposable objects who do not feel pain or fear, but the terrified looks of pure agony on their faces prove otherwise.

The world is making great strides toward becoming more cruelty-free, and we need celebrities, who are society’s great influencers, to take a loud vocal stance against animal cruelty.

If you would like to see Sia tell MAC she will only represent them if they end all animal testing, please take a moment to sign the petition.

To discover some new cruelty-free beauty products, check this out. And remember to share this with your network to further spread awareness about animal testing in the cosmetics industry!
