Anyone who has lived with a dog knows how amazingly intuitive these animals are. The video above tells the story of a dog named Angel who put his life on the line to save a little girl’s life by jumping in front of a speeding car.

Angel was a stray dog who didn’t appear to have a caretaker. A few people noticed him wandering around the neighborhood a few days before the accident, but the dog didn’t seem all that eager to interact with them. However, when a car came barreling down a street where a number of children were playing, the pup didn’t waste anytime to jump in front of it in order to prevent a collision with one girl who was riding a bike.

Angel’s leg was broken in the ensuing accident, but he is now in the custody of a local shelter and is slated to receive surgery soon. As the animal shelter representative in this video says, this case is another example of the wonderful connection between animals and humans. This just goes to show that animals care about us as much as we care about them!
