Group of Strangers Rescue Dog Who Fell onto Train Tracks in Glasgow

dog on train tracks

In a heart-stopping incident at a bustling train station in Glasgow, Scotland, on October 9, a dog’s life was miraculously saved, thanks to the swift action of commuters and the train driver, as reported by Newsweek. As passengers shuffled along the platform at approximately 6 p.m., a sudden commotion erupted when a dog fell onto the train tracks beneath a ScotRail train that had just arrived. The dramatic scene was captured by a bystander and quickly went viral on social media.

The shaky video, accompanied by frantic voices of onlookers, portrayed the dog’s desperate situation as people rushed to aid. A text overlay on the video reads, “A dog fell under the train track, the train stopped, and people jumped in for help.”

Imad Nemili, who shared the video, described the incident, saying, “I was on my way from Partick to Glasgow Queen’s Street when, from what I know, the dog slipped and fell through the gap on the train.”

Rail lines can be perilous, sometimes electrified, and always with the risk of trains approaching at high speeds. Passengers are continually advised to exercise caution near the platform’s edge, both for their safety and that of any children or animals in their care. Recognizing the dog’s dire predicament, travelers on the platform sprang into action to alert the train driver to halt the train. Nemili recounted his experience, saying, “Just like everyone else, I was so shocked and worried that the train driver wouldn’t hear us. We did our best to shout and ask them to stop—they did and came to help out.”

A group of people, including the dog’s human, rushed to call the dog and attempted to rescue him. After a tense few moments, they successfully managed to retrieve the scared pup, bringing him to safety.

The dog was reunited with his human, and a potentially tragic incident had a happy ending. In response to the heartwarming rescue, Phil Campbell, ScotRail’s customer operations director, stated, “We’re pleased to see that the dog was retrieved safe and well. We take this opportunity to remind customers to keep well back from platform edges when trains are arriving and leaving the station and to keep hold of pets, pushchairs, and other belongings when getting on and off the train.”
