This Sheep Looked Like Nothing But a Lump on the Road, But They Saved Him Anyway!

Every animal deserves respect and the chance at a happy life – a sheep no less so than a dog or a cat. Although so many people still value the lives of farm animals less than those of other species, there are also many people who have dedicated their lives to protecting these animals. The story of Lambert, a rescued lamb, showcases the incredible work of the courageous people at Edgar’s Mission Farm Sanctuary. 

Lambert was thrown off a livestock carrier with another sheep who, unfortunately, was already dead. Little Lambert was visibly distressed and his hind legs were not angled the right way. Fortunately, Edgar’s Mission rescuers stepped in to take the poor lamb.

 Lambert’s leg was badly broken and it became clear that fluids and pain relief would not be enough. In the middle of the night, the lamb was rushed to the vet and placed on an intravenous drip. There, it was decided that he was going to undergo a surgery.

The rigorous surgery went wonderfully well – a metal plate and several screws were inserted in Lambert’s leg so that it can grow strong and healthy. Despite the risk, the lamb survived and is now recovering! The rescue team will need to put a lot of effort into socializing sweet Lambert and making him trust people, as he never had much human interaction before.
