Senior Dog is Unimpressed by Energetic Rescue Pup

Stacy Lorenzen from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, shared a delightful moment on TikTok of her adult daughter Carlie’s newly adopted dog, Sugar, enjoying a sleepover at Stacy’s house. Sugar’s excitement was on full display, as the video captured her energetic “zoomies” around the home.

Carlie and her friend Sidney, both starting college, decided to adopt a rescue dog. Their visit to the Sioux Falls Humane Society led them to fall in love with Sugar, a 2-year-old stray estimated to be a mix of yellow Labrador and golden retriever. Despite initial calmness and skittishness, Sugar quickly adapted to her new environment, becoming more lively and inquisitive.

However, not everyone in the house shared Sugar’s enthusiasm. Mickey, Stacy’s senior English springer spaniel, seemed less than thrilled by the new addition. While Sugar raced up and down stairs, under tables, and even onto a bed, Mickey remained unimpressed, maintaining a dignified distance.

Stacy adopted Mickey nine years ago during a challenging time for her family, following a divorce. Now, with Carlie and her roommate away for a weekend in Minneapolis, Stacy agreed to take care of Sugar. Despite Mickey’s initial reservations, the hope is that more sleepovers will help him warm up to Sugar’s exuberant personality.

The video has since gone viral, garnering over 1.9 million views, showcasing the joyful and sometimes chaotic journey of integrating a new rescue dog into a family.
