The animal kingdom’s romance stories keep getting juicer. First, there were the Cichlid fish who swoon their mates by building sandcastles, and now, we have the soap opera like drama of the sloths! The Animal Planet video, “Saucy Samantha Calls for Suitors,” features an almost Shakespearean tale of drama among three sloths in a sanctuary and a sloth from the wild. The scene is from the show “Meet the Sloths” on Animal Planet.
Samantha and Darla are two female sloths at a Costa Rican Sanctuary. The two screech out their ear piercing mating calls, which attracts an outside visitor they named Brad. Brad is a wild sloth, who was lured into the sanctuary by Darla’s mating call.
Once Brad entered the sanctuary, the soap opera drama begins! Although Brad was enticed by Darla’s call, it was Samantha who caught his attention once inside. However, Samantha has a long term male companion Mr. Sunshine, who doesn’t like Brad’s presence. Watch the video to see what happens!
