The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently released a list of safe fall activities and holiday suggestions for the coronavirus pandemic.

When it comes to Halloween, many families celebrate by trick-or-treating and dressing up. The CDC listed “traditional trick-or-treating” as a high-risk activity and recommended that people practice the following lower risk activities:

  • Carving pumpkins with family members
  • Virtual Halloween costumes
  • Decorating your living space
  • At home Halloween movie night

The CDC recommended that apple and pumpkin pickers stay safe by wearing masks, keeping a distance, and sanitizing hands constantly.

The CDC also shared that people participating in fall activities stay away from large groups, parties, and activities that involve a lot of people from outside your household. The agency also recommended staying away from large inside gatherings to stay safe.

Dr. Anthony Fauci said that Americans should prepare to “hunker down to get through this fall and winter,” when he participated on a panel at Harvard Medical School.
