Miguel the piglet was sick when he first arrived at Santuario Igualdad Interespecie in Chile. Too feverish to even eat, he spent his first days at the indoors, wrapped in a blanket. There was little hope that he would pull through, but he did!
This video captures Miguel’s first real day of freedom. Now he is healthy and free to roam the sanctuary grounds where he’ll spend the rest of his days. We’re so happy to know that now the worst of his troubles is figuring out whether or not he’s getting enough belly rubs. In his new home, Miguel will grow up surrounded by people and other animals who love him and he’ll get to live life on his own terms.
Looking at the blissful expression on Miguel’s face as he wanders around his new stomping grounds, we can’t help but to think that this is the sort of life that all animals deserve. Enjoy your new home, Miguel!
