A stunningly rare Maine Coon cat is winning hearts online for her magical appearance. The cat, known as Ms. Princess, is a Blue Tortie—a unique blend of “Blue Smoke” Maine Coon and Tortoiseshell—and her shimmering coat has earned her the nickname “garden fairy.” According to a Parade Pets feature by Allison Blair, this gorgeous feline made waves on social media after appearing in a TikTok video that left viewers enchanted.

The Blue Smoke gene gives Ms. Princess her soft grey-blue hue, while the Tortoiseshell pattern adds rich orange highlights, especially around her face. This rare genetic combination is uncommon even among Maine Coons, which are already a prized and distinctive breed known for their massive size and friendly personalities. While many cats are beautiful, Ms. Princess’s unique coloring has cat lovers doing double takes—and wondering if they’re seeing something out of a fairytale.

Tortoiseshell coloring is passed through the X chromosome, meaning Ms. Princess’s vibrant coat likely came from a Tortie mother and a Blue Smoke Maine Coon father. Despite her appearance, her behavior is reportedly all Maine Coon: adventurous, social, and sometimes a little demanding.

While it might be tempting to seek out a cat just like Ms. Princess, animal advocates urge people to adopt responsibly. Rare colors don’t mean better pets, and thousands of cats with equally lovable personalities are waiting in shelters for a second chance.

Instead of chasing trends, let’s appreciate the beauty of every animal—regardless of breed or color—and consider giving a home to those who need one most. Adopt, don’t shop, and let compassion guide your choices.
