Upon watching the Dashcam footage from Officers Allen Speed and Paul Garcia’s police car, you might be a bit confused about why these two cops are stopping right in the middle of a busy interstate. Then you notice a small, scared dog.
A highway is no place for a tiny Rat Terrier, but luckily these officers knew exactly what to do to help this frightened pup. Setting up a road block, the two officers quickly got to work. By chance, Officer Garcia happened to have dog treats in the back of his car (both officers are animal lovers and have pets at home). The dog was not making it easy for her rescuers, though.
After about a minute of trying to lure the little dog, which they named Beach, with treats, she disappears out of the frame. According to the officers, that is when Garcia was able to grab a blanket and toss it over her, making her easy to grab. Thankfully, drivers delayed by the roadblock were more than happy to stop for the dog’s rescue.
“When they saw the rescue, that was when the citizens started honking and applauding,” Officer Speed told News 8. “It made us feel good,” added in Garcia.

Beach was taken to the Humane Society of North Texas and was officially adopted a few days later. It is a happy ending for the little dog, and it was all thanks to the kindhearted police officers who went out of their way to help her!
