The bond between human and canine can be a strong one filled with love, trust and a lifetime of companionship. Just ask any dedicated dog parent or guardian and you will get a positive earful of how awesome and wonderful it is to be in the presence of their four-legged family member. But would you believe that a bond between dog and dog could be just as strong? Maybe even stronger?
Though they don’t express their special bond in words, a pit bull mix named Joanie and a chihuahua mix named Chachi share an unmeasurable connection to one another. Discovered wandering the streets of a neighborhood in Savannah, Georgia: Joanie was bravely carrying a sick and injured Chachi in her mouth appearing to desperately be looking for help. The chihuahua’s eye was badly infected and Joanie was observed periodically setting Chachi down to lick his wounds. Animal control, a local animal shelter, and the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department were quick to assist the pair.
“It’s not every day we get to see such devotion between two special dogs like this,” said Animal Control Officer Christina Sutherin in a quote. “They are both such sweet animals. But the relationship they share just sets them apart.”
After examination, vets at the shelter had no choice but to remove Chachi’s horribly infected eye. Because of the surgery, Joanie was not able to be around Chachi 24/7 as he needed to heal, but they did get daily visits and playtime!
You may be thinking, “where is their family?” Joanie and Chachi’s story has gone viral, shared all over social media, even featured in news stories — the truth is, no one has come forward to claim these two lovable dogs.
So, the dynamic duo is looking for a home and family, and they must be adopted together

so very awesome
This reminds me so much of my pit bull and long haired cat … Juice (the pit) & Lu (the cat) get along like they are the same.. the play and run together and they even lay around together. I know they would be lost with out the other.
And honestly, the dog is much more afraid of the cat.. haha!!
