Jeremy, a rescued piglet, lives at Where Pigs Fly Farm Sanctuary in New South Wales, Australia and it seems like he is loving life as he lays on the grass and enjoys a good back scratch. He really is in a state of bliss and it looks like he may be smiling as he gets scratched!
Did you know that pigs are highly intelligent animals? Some studies even show that they are smarter than dogs. These sweet creatures are not only smart, but they are clean, highly social, and incredibly playful animals. Pigs are also extremely emotionally complex, forming strong bonds with their babies and even singing to them. They even form close bonds with their human families and excitedly respond when called by name, just like dogs and cats do!
Despite this, pigs have a bad reputation as being dumb, dirty, and boring when they are in fact the opposite. Unfortunately, although they share many similarities with household pets, pigs are more often looked at as food rather than friends, subjected to brutal abuse at the hands of the factory farm industry.
If we could all learn to see pigs for the amazing individuals they are, the world would be a much more compassionate place. Be sure to share this adorable video with a friend!
