One of the largest pig factory farms in the United Kingdom, Flat House Farm, has finally shut down after years of animal abuse allegations. Its closure comes after a government investigation found that the farm was breaking the law and harming its captive animals.

The company came under scrutiny after an investigation by the animal rights organization Viva! revealed the nightmarish conditions on the farm. The footage showed cats eating pigs alive, emaciated pigs, and rotting corpses sprawled across the factory floor. The farm’s parent company, Elvidge Farms, pled guilty to breaching animal welfare and was fined.
This is a huge win for animals, but unfortunately, the fight is not over. Countless pigs suffered at this farm, and millions of others are suffering at farms all around the world currently. Now that the government has revealed this abuse, they need to keep up the momentum and look into other cruel factory farms that are hiding in plain sight. We need to push the United Kingdom to fully enforce animal welfare laws!
