Although it is terrifying when a dog is lost, one dog’s escape helped to save a life. The dog’s story was shared in a Facebook post by Indiana’s Jennings County Police Department.
When a black dog escaped from her home, she ended up being found by a kind couple who tried to locate the dog’s home. As they walked the dog around the neighborhood knocking on doors, they heard cries for help coming from inside one of the homes. After one member of the couple entered the house the cries were coming from, they found a man who was seriously injured and in need of immediate medical attention. The elderly man had been unable to move for two days.
The couple immediately called for medical attention and the immobilized man was transported to a nearby hospital. Medical personnel say it is likely that, had he not been discovered, the injured man may have died soon. The dog was collected by local animal enforcement. Soon after, her humans came to retrieve her.
People praised the dog after reading the story on Facebook. “God spelled backward is doG. We don’t deserve them but I am so glad we have them!” commented one user.
