The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) has once again come to the amazing rescue of abused dogs. This time, they saved over 50 dogs and puppies from a suspected “hog-dog fighting, breeding ground.” The animals living at this facility in Cottonwood, Alabama, were mostly emaciated. HSUS volunteers expect that some of the puppies hadn’t been fed in weeks. Their rib and hip bones were protruding, and they were living in filth. With the current winter temperatures, the dogs were struggling to stay warm and find shelter. Puppies were even found living in an abandoned car, the only nearby shelter available to them.
Unfortunately, the HSUS responds to many of this type of report throughout the year. Dog fighting is still a huge problem, and these breeding facilities do not care about the condition of the dogs in their care. The good news; you can help these adorable pups! After being rescued, HSUS gets the dogs vet care and healthy. They then adopt the dogs out to loving families like yours! If you are interested in adopting an animal saved from such a terrible situation, visit the Humane Society’s adoption page here.
