Hope you’re ready for some over the top cuteness! Ms. Truffles the guinea pig is the latest animal to win our hearts. The petite lady recently came into the care of Edgar’s Mission Animals Sanctuary in Australia, after one of their guinea pigs, Montezuma passed away and left her partner heartbroken.
Hernando Cortez was so lonely without his partner Montezuma that he would let out high-pitched little “wees.” As luck would have it, Coldstream Animal Aid recently took in an Abyssinian Guinea Pig named Ms. Truffles and Edgar’s Mission thought Ms. Truffles might just be the cure for Hernando Cortez’s broken heart.
Edgar’s Mission also makes an important point for anyone thinking of adding a Guninea Pig to their crew, “While guinea pigs are truly special little guys and gals, please do your research before taking them into your world, as sadly all too often, the novelty of their cuteness wears off long before the responsibility of their care and welfare does.”
Small pet companions like guinea pigs should not be thought of as practice pets, especially for children. From food, exercise, grooming, general care, and lifespan, all animal species are different and have their individual personal needs. Check out five important things you need to know before adopting a rescued guinea pig. If you can care for one of these sweet little pets, you will be rewarded with cuddles, love, and affection!
