Little Poppy’s problems began with a small wound that was made accidentally by his mother when she was trying to carry him. Unfortunately, because the puppies were living in the street, the wound got infected and infested with maggots only a few days later.
Luckily, the pup crossed paths with the incredible Guardians of the Voiceless team. Once his wound was properly treated, it began to heal and the Guardians predict that in just a couple of weeks, he will be fully healthy and ready to enjoy playing with his mom and two sisters again.
As the Guardians point out, injuries and a life of avoiding danger is the sad reality for street dogs – and with millions and millions of these animals roaming the world, the threats only stand to increase.
“Can you imagine that if we treat over 50 dogs a day alone in our city, how many millions are suffering the same conditions unattended and die in pain?” the rescuers write. Fortunately, those numbers are now slowly getting smaller due to the work of many rescue organizations and to spay/neuter programs. To learn more about Guardians of the Voiceless, click here.
