A Utah man said that he was reunited with his horse after the animal was missing for eight whole years. When Shane Adams was camping in the desert over eight years ago, his horse, Mongo, wandered away, and he thought he would never see him again. When the Bureau of Land Management found Mongo running with a herd of wild mustangs and contacted Adams, he thought it must be a joke.
“I mean, it’s crazy. Even after being wild for eight years, he still acts like the same horse. He acts like nothing ever happened,” Adams said.
Mongo is now about 18 years old and a few hundred pounds underweight. Adams plans to help him get back to a healthy weight and regain his strength. Mongo appeared to be happy to be with Adams again.

Although it is not known if Adams rescued Mongo, we hope that was the case. Taking these animals from the wild for our enjoyment is driving them toward extinction, which not only eliminates a species but puts others in danger by disrupting delicate ecosystems. Animals belong in the wild. If the demand for animals as pets did not exist, the pet trade would not exist. Leave the wild in the wild.
