Someone Wrapped Their Neglected, Hairless Dog in a Garbage Bag and Abandoned Her Like Trash

We know the expression that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure, and we agree with it. We just wish stupid idiots didn’t use poetic license to interpret that expression to mean they can throw out their dogs.

In Richmond, Virginia, authorities are asking for information from the public after a dog was found abandoned, wrapped in a trash bag. This poor little girl, who is thought to be a Shih-Tzu mix, was found crawling with infection and clinging to life. This dog was somebody’s pet. Someone took the time to spay her, and they probably had her as part of their family for much of her five years of life. How could they then discard her as though she was nothing? It just seems unbelievable that anyone could ever think to do this.

Annabelle, as this poor little girl has since been renamed, has clearly not been cared for properly in years. Richmond Animal Control said, “She has not been cared for properly in any capacity. She has a terrible case of mange, upper respiratory infection and her eyes have infections.” She also needs dental treatment, and who knows how many other infections to be treated. Her fur is matted and completely bald in places; honestly, just looking at her poor little face leaves us in tears.

When you choose to take a dog into your home, you do so for life. You don’t discard members of your family when things get difficult, so why is this any different for our dogs? We are their worlds, we are their everything; can you imagine how confused, how much sorrow Annabelle suffers because of what has been done to her? She probably is still thinking her cruel owners will return to take her home. Instead, she is all alone in the world suffering from the neglect these people put her through.
