As dog guardians, we experience the love and compassion that our four-legged friends exude every single day. Although we know deep down that our dogs can tell when we’re happy or in need of some comfort, many people think that our assumption animals have feelings stems from our own anthropomorphization of them.
Looking at Brutus the Rottweiler, however, it is impossible to deny the fact that dogs do in fact have feelings and experience emotions just like we do. This heartbreaking video shows Brutus sitting with his twin brother Hank, who has just passed away. Despite his human’s entreating words, this mourning pup refuses to leave his brother’s side.
While there is no doubt that Hank will be sorely missed, we know that he will not be easily forgotten. Hank and Brutus’ guardian explains that he would not usually share such an intimate moment, but he felt that this video would inspire others to rethink the way they look at animals and recognize that these living, breathing creatures are more similar to us than we know.
So please, be kind to the animals in your life and be sure to give your four-legged friend an extra hug and kiss today.
