Life in a shelter can be a very difficult experience for a dog. Just imagine being brought to a place filled with hundreds of other dogs who are anxious, and unsure of why or how long they will be in this place. For a small puppy, this is understandably scary and overwhelming. For Ramsey and Fonzie, the shelter experience was made even worse thanks to mange. Mange is a skin infection that causes the fur to fall off and leaves the dog’s skin brittle and very sensitive. This sort of infection is treatable, but it requires a lot of care and attention which, sadly, a busy shelter might not be able to attend to.
Luckily for Ramsey and Fonzie, the shelter they were brought into works with Mazie’s Mission Rescue Clinic. As part of Mazie’s Bridge program, rescuers were able to arrange for these two little ragamuffins to be brought into a foster home for care. Once they were given the all-clear for mange, the pair could join in an adoption day with one of Mazie’s partner organizations. This is their story.
