When Hope for Paws got a call about a dog living at a water treatment facility, they wasted no time in going to find this handsome pup. When rescuers arrived, the dog was very skeptical of them. Though he appreciated the little bits of hamburger they brought him, he wasn’t ready for any interaction with his rescuers.
Thankfully, after getting the dog away from the plant’s dangerous chemical supply, the Hope for Paws team was able to catch him and begin earning his trust. Based on his shaggy, but strong, appearance they named him Mufasa.
Once Mufasa arrived at Hope for Paw’s rescue facility, the sweet senior pup got a bath, medical treatment and plenty of treats. Hope for Paws then coordinated with Lionel’s Legacy, a rescue organization that specializes in senior dogs. They took Mufasa in as a foster and are now looking for a home for this King.
Senior dogs often have a hard time getting adopted, as many families want puppies or young dogs. However, we know that senior pups can provide just as much love and companionship as younger dogs.

What a sweetheart. He seemed to enjoy the bath =o)
We adopted a 13 yrs old westie. She\’s been with us for almost 2 years and we\’re very happy together. Please consider adopting a senior, no dog should spend his last days at a shelter.
Years ago I lost my 9 y/o companion and was completely devastated. To shorten the story, when I was ready to look for an other companion I made the decision to take only senior ladies. The only thing I regret about the decision is I am in the position to only take one at a time. I see death much more often but it is so well worth it. The senior dogs are wise, some very abused, some neglected, but all seem to have such gratitude for the gift of a home and unconditional love. There has never been a moment that I have regretted the decision. Thank you.
You\’re a wonderful person.
People like you are the reason I still have faith in mankind <3<3<3 THANK YOU for being fantastic.
What a Wonderful Rescue and a Wonderful Partial ending. I am sure he will find a Forever home soon. You guys are great and I will be giving and sharing your story….again. Thank You and God Bless!
