Earlier this year, a dog named Samuel was found tied to the back of a rescue van with food, water, and a note pleading for the SPCA to care for him. Discovered by Jamie, a field officer from the Royal New Zealand Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), Samuel quickly became a favorite at SPCA New Zealand.
Recently, Samuel was adopted by a family mourning the loss of their nearly 13-year-old dog. His new human expressed immense gratitude to the SPCA, sharing heartfelt sentiments on social media about Samuel’s integration into their lives. Samuel now enjoys daily outings to a café, where he receives plenty of attention and affection, boosting his confidence. He also loves accompanying his new owner in the garden and staying by their side.
Despite the challenges faced by animal shelters, with increasing intakes and euthanasia rates, stories like Samuel’s highlight the importance of adoption. Samuel’s new life, filled with love and joy alongside his new dog sister Maddie, serves as a testament to the positive impact of rescue and adoption efforts.
