Rita is a professional photographer who is saving shelter dogs through her camera! Every week, she visits several different shelters to video and photograph dogs in hopes of allowing them to be seen and saved.
Rita explains that this passion project of hers first started when she visited a shelter to adopt her first rescue dog. When she brought home her rescue dog, she couldn’t stop thinking about all of the other dogs in the shelter who didn’t have a home. Although she couldn’t Donate to the shelter financially, she realized that she had her camera and could photograph these dogs to help reach more people and allow them to see the pups in a different light.
These dogs in the shelter are just waiting for human interaction, for someone to take them out on a walk, give them a treat, or just show them love and attention. Rita volunteers in shelters around Los Angeles and explains that with open intake shelters, they accept as many dogs as they can. If dogs are not being adopted simultaneously, difficult choices must be made. While seeing animals in these conditions can be unbearable, you can do your part and always adopt!
