It is estimated that there are at least 70 million stray animals living in the U.S. Some of these animals were abandoned by their families and forced to fend for themselves and others were born homeless, but they all share the need for a little love and care. Sadly, this issue with animal homelessness isn’t just a U.S. problem, but an international one. This video featuring a homeless dog in desperate need for help comes from Howl of aDog, a Romania-based non-profit.

Rescuers from this amazing organization found two-year-old Maya the dog in a parking lot, far from the city. Given the extreme heat and Maya’s behavior, they knew she was in need of help.

Once back at their shelter, Howl of a Dog volunteers were able to rehydrate Maya and set her up with a comfy bed and some new toys. It is so beautiful to see this desperate pup transform into a happy, thriving dog.
