Parental instincts are incredibly powerful. These innate traits are why so many animals make fantastic mothers even if they’ve never had babies. It doesn’t even matter if they’re the same species! Cheesecake the capybara is a shining example of what it means to be a good mother.
Cheesecake lives on animal refuge run by her guardian Janice. The refuge homes hundreds of abandoned animals of all different species ranging from big horses to small dogs. Janice keeps the animals fed and safe, but she knows that giving them food and shelter is only half the battle.
Animals do their best when they’re surrounded by loving company. This is especially true for young puppies who are easily frightened. Janice can’t stay in the puppy pen 24/7 so she let Cheesecake take over! Cheesecake has been an excellent foster mom to a whole host of different puppies. According to Janice, she’s fostered four whole litters this year alone.
Cheesecake has a very motherly and almost regal aura about her. It’s no wonder why the puppies seem to love her so much!
