One artist’s gorgeous, hyper-realistic work will make you need to squint your eyes and look a bit closer at the images. It’s almost hard to believe you’re not actually looking at photographs of animals. To make her work appear more colorful and vivid, artist Karla Mialynne used watercolor pencils, colored markers, pens, and acrylic paint for these animal drawings. She took photos of the work with the tools she used to make them with.

It’s amazing what can be done with art supplies. This lizard is comprised of several shades of blue, green, and turquoise.

The end result looks so lifelike, you can almost feel those scales that pop off the page.

This mouse’s coat is full of various Earth tones; Mialynne used 10 different colors for that fur.

The final mouse photo looks so fuzzy, we want to pet him!

More than 15 different colored pencils went into making this owl.

Those eyes are so realistic, they stare right back at you.

Mialynne captured the flawy motion of this fish just as it would dance underwater.

This dog’s eyes are glistening!

This bird looks so gorgeous and striking since Mialynne used a few gel pens.

What do you see here? A sunset, an ocean?

Wow, these art pieces sure are gorgeous!
