The Celia Hammond Animal Trust Fund, which has served as a safe haven for stray and abandoned cats since 1986, recently had a group of foxhounds run through the property, creating a ruckus and a path of destruction chasing after their kill.
As one can only imagine, this terrifying ordeal caused many of the free-roaming cats to flee and several of them remain missing. While our hearts are saddened by the recent events at the Celia Hammond Animal Trust Fund, we also realize how preventable it was. The Care 2 Petition team has made it clear that enough is enough and are urging the UK Parliment revise the Animal Welfare Act to end hound hunting.
This “sport,” is dangerous to so many involved – the hounds, the target, and any person or animal that comes between the two. This has been proven time and time again with animals and people being attacked by the hounds. And by no means is this the fault of the hounds, these scary incidents are due to the irresponsibility of humans – all for abhorrent entertainment. Sure, animals chase each other in the wild but it’s for a purpose, whether food or instinct – hound hunting is cruel and unnecessary.
Help make Parliment take this issue seriously by signing the petition and supporting the ban on dangerous hound hunting.
