Although you would probably never guess, there are over 70 million stray dogs and cats living in the United States. Some of these animals were born into feral colonies and have only ever known life on the street, but many of them are previously adopted pets who were abandoned by their guardians.
Shayna, the Sheepdog was one of the latter.
This scruffy pup was found wandering near railroad tracks in Los Angeles, a dangerous place for a dog. Thankfully, a kind person called Hope for Paws and the rescue team immediately jumped into action to help the lost Sheepdog.
Although Shayna was clearly very wary of the Hope for Paws team, after some coaxing (and lots of yummy snacks) she came around. Her rescuers were able to contact Shayna’s former guardians, but learned that they were no longer able to care for her. While most dog lovers would never think of giving up their best friends, the sad reality is that it happens very often.
The good news is that Hope for Paws is working to find Shayna a new home and this time, we are sure she will find the devoted, loving forever family she deserves.

I hope the authorities have charged those people or abandoning that Sheep Dog so they will know that it is against the law to just abandon a dog. If you can\’t care for it anymore, take it to a shelter or find another family for it. You don\’t just leave it out somewhere to fend for itself. Those people are selfish, inhumane, and stupid. They should NEVER have another pet.
