New York City’s horse drawn carriage industry has allegedly claimed another life, and this time it is not just an animal. A carriage horse named Deniz died, and days later a runaway horse threw an 18 year old tourist from India onto the pavement, killing him. These incidents are not isolated. Over the years, horses have repeatedly collapsed on city streets from heat, traffic, and exhaustion. Ryder’s Law, named for a horse who collapsed in Manhattan in 2022, would phase out carriages while supporting workers in finding new employment. You can help push this forward by signing the petition today.

Cities worldwide have already replaced horse drawn carriages with humane electric alternatives. Horses are living beings who allegedly suffer daily navigating crowds, noise, and extreme weather. New York must act now. Visit the petition now and urge the City Council to pass Ryder’s Law.
