Whether it’s a necessity, for training, or a personal goal, burning fat is an important part of overall health. By focusing on burning fat instead of losing weight, you’ll reduce visceral fat, — a “type of body fat that’s stored within the abdominal cavity [and is] located near several vital organs, including the liver, stomach, and intestines,” and it also has a bad habit of building up in our arteries — naturally boost energy, and you may even be able to improve athletically and get more out of your everyday workouts. How do you accomplish all of this?
Fat burning isn’t simply about reducing the amount of fat on your body, but it’s also been found that fat is a more effective energy source than glucose. While your body uses glucose first and foremost, fat provides a more sustained and enduring energy source. Sounds great! So, how exactly do you encourage your body to burn fat?
It’s a combination of both lifestyle — such as exercise, reduced stress, and sleep — and, more importantly, diet. Diet plays a major role in your body’s ability to burn more fat. If you consume large amounts of glucose — either from straight sugar or carbs — then it’ll take your body longer to burn through glucose and start using the stored fat. If you eat a low-carb, low-sugar diet that’s also supplemented with high healthy fat, then your body will more easily be able to burn through the glucose and access those fat stores.
Given that diet plays such a large role in fat burning, it stands to reason that there are a few very specific natural items that may boost fat burning. Research has found that caffeine, green tea extract, protein, soluble fiber, and Yohimbine, — a fat-burning compound found in the “bark of Pausinystalia yohimbe, a tree found in Central and Western Africa” — are all effective natural agents to boost your body’s ability to burn more fat.
So, if you’re looking to get a bit of a fat-burning boost, try incorporating some potent forms of these items! Of course, with any diet change or supplementation make sure to speak with a doctor, nutritionist, or other health care professional first!
1. Symnutrition Caffeine L-Theanine Supplements

Symnutrition Caffeine L-Theanine Supplements/Amazon.com
While you can always resort to an extra cup of joe or caffeine-based tea, going the caffeine supplement route may be easier on your system! These Symnutrition Caffeine L-Theanine Supplements are vegan-friendly, gluten-free, and crafted from high-grade ingredients in a cGMP-registered facility. On top of that, they are free of any redundant fillers and are certified for potency, purity, and integrity. A 120-capsule bottle costs $19.97.
Amazon Customer says “About time I FINALLY found a reliable, U.S.A.-made nootropic stack. It works super well for me, providing fast-acting (within 15-30 minutes) energy and sustained, calm alertness for over 6 hours with 2 pills (200mg caffeine, 400mg L-theanine). For someone who deals with ADHD symptoms (lack of focus/concentration, 1 million thoughts/minute, anxiety, forgetfulness), this works wonders and seems to be a little like a Ritalin (generic: methylphenidate) alternative. Also great for remembering people’s names (combined with bacopa monnieri), and creative output. I’ve tried one other company’s caffeine/l-theanine stack, but it made me jittery and feel strange, and I used 2 bottle’s worth to really test that hypothesis and result. Turns out a LOT of supplements are assembled in China, or even using Chinese-sourced ingredients which historically means there’s a huge variance in quality, and therefore the safety standards are wayyyyy different than the U.S. Therefore, it’s reassuring that FocusNow is made here in the U.S. Keep up the great work!”

It’s a nice bright green color and doesn’t have too much of a bitter after-taste. I could honestly drink this every day! I recommend it to others who are looking for a good matcha powder. James Anderson says “I started with almond milk (lactose issues), then went to a 50/50 almond milk and water. I found it broke down quicker with the 50/50 blend. The flavor is great. I’ve tried a number of powders over the years and this one is the best. I’ve changed my diet, so ingredients are key. There are no artificial things in this one. They use Stevia, which is a natural sweetener that is better for your body than anything else (other than Xylitol). If you are not used to Stevia, it may take a little to “come to the dark side”, but your body will appreciate it!”

The perfect foundation for morning kale, apple, blueberry, and avocado smoothies. I will definitely purchase this product again. The only thing I found noteworthy, otherwise, was that when drunk alone, the MCT oil gives it a hint of coconut flavor. Not a negative, just something to share.”
7. Garden of Life Raw Organic Protein Unflavored Powder

Garden of Life Raw Organic Protein Powder/Amazon.com

On top of that, this product is gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, non-GMO, and vegan-friendly! A 1-pound container costs $30.29.
A Customer says “I have read many of the negative reviews, and frankly, I don’t think that they are being fair to the product. I did not purchase the old product. But, many of the complaints seem to be about the scoop being larger in the new box, and the box is larger. Easy fix- don’t use the full scoop. I don’t find the taste horrible at all, in fact, it even says it is unflavored. The big change I think is in the addition of the Branch Chain Amino Acids- something which the other reviewers neglect to point out- these are extremely essential- especially for those of us recovering from a brain injury. I for one, have noticed an immediate difference since starting to use this product. Not only am I gluten intolerant with a dairy allergy, but suffered a head injury as a result of a car accident. After using this product, I started noticing immediate benefits. And I believe it to be because of the additional branch chain amino acids that were not present in the old version. I also add some raw blueberries and drink mine with unsweetened almond milk and it is absolutely delicious!”

April Hegens says “This product Organic Prebiotic Superfood Fiber Supplement taste really good. I used it for the first time this morning at 9:00a today. I mixed it in my pineapple and Banana smoothie with almond milk. The taste was amazing, and I have not felt hungry yet (but I did make myself eat after 5 hours). I have not used the bathroom yet either (which I like to do because I’m on a regular schedule every morning) but we will see. I purchased this product because other fiber products are so nasty tasting and do not offer what this one does. I like the garden of life products they are clean and healthy.”
