I’ve also gotten into making my cosmetics, and this is when I thought… There must be a way to make a lotion that will give me the same glow. I read the ingredients on countless self-tanning lotions, and the key ingredient in all of them is coffee.

Coffee does have many benefits. Just like salt, it is not the best thing to consume a lot (which I do, and when I have too much, I notice a total roller-coaster range of emotions). This being said, coffee can help wake up your skin, tighten it, and leave a lasting glow.

I tried many things, and I came up with a coffee tanning spray that I spray on my skin after my showers. It leaves a soft glow, and it makes my skin soft when I need that extra bit of help. Here is the recipe for my homemade coffee tanning spray.

Ingredients:

  • 1 large spray bottle
  • 1/4 cup almond oil (make sure it’s a skin oil and not a cooking oil)
  • Leftover coffee (about 3 cups). I like using flavored coffee because it gives the coffee a sweet scent instead of just coffee.
  • 2 cups of water

Steps:

Combine everything in the spray bottle. Shake and use.

How to use it:

After a shower, spray on the coffee mix. With hands, rub into your skin. You will see a gradual darkening of your skin. Plus, you will see your skin change from the coffee; it will look and feel softer.

If you’re brave, you can put some sparkles in it to get all crazy, but that is a preference.

Remember, this is not a tanning supplement, nor should you use this to go tanning. It simply gives you a glow to your skin and hydrates it. Also, when you’re out in the sun, make sure you wear sunblock with high protection. The last thing you need is to damage your skin.
