More and more people across the United States are experiencing mental health issues, and children may be the most affected. Depression doubled for teens and young adults between 2011 and 2021, and almost a quarter of teenage girls created suicide plans in the last few years. There’s no one thing that experts believe is the cause of this, but social media may be one of the primary culprits. Using these websites can lead to body image issues, sleeping problems, and can be associated with ADHD. Please sign this petition to urge the National Institutes of Health to dedicate more funding to research about the possible negative impacts of social media use!
