It’s shocking, but child marriage is still legal in most of the U.S. Only 13 states have fully banned the practice, while four states have no minimum age at all. That means children—even as young as 10—have been legally married off, often to adult men. Between 2000 and 2018, around 300,000 children were married in the U.S. This isn’t just outdated tradition—it’s institutionalized child abuse.

Children forced into marriage are three times more likely to face intimate partner violence, and young girls are often pushed out of education, trapped in early pregnancies, and left without legal protection. Many cannot even file for divorce. Some victims, isolated and groomed, feel their only escape is suicide.

We cannot allow lawmakers to hide behind excuses of “religious liberty” or “parental rights.” This is about protecting children from abuse. Sign the petition now to demand a nationwide ban.
