Unfortunately, the world is not a very peaceful or safe place for many individuals. From conflict to abuse to exploitation, there is so much cruelty inflicted on both humans and animals. While this can get disheartening and difficult to hear about, petitions are a great way to use your voice for good. Just by signing one, you are a part of helping those who are not treated fairly. You can even share them with your friends and acquaintances to increase your impact.

Through petitions, we can reach those in power and demand justice for others. They are valuable tools for making positive changes in the world. If you are looking for a way to help animals and humans, here are 10 petitions you should sign this week, including Hold People Accountable for Harassing Dolphins in Hawaii, Urge the FTC to Regulate Virtual Healthcare, and Help Protect Endangered Whales from Vessel Strikes.

We want to thank you for being the change you wish to see in the world and giving a voice to the voiceless.

1. Justice for 18,000 Cows Who Were Burned Alive at a Dairy Farm in Texas

Last month, more than 18,00o cows were burned alive at a dairy farm in Texas after an explosion set fire to the farm. Of course, no federal regulations exist to protect livestock from tragedies like this, as these livestock are only viewed as farmers’ property. But we must give a voice to these innocent animals who died in such a horrific way. Please sign this petition to urge the USDA to implement fire protection codes for buildings that contain animals!

2. Help Prevent Thousands of Children from Dying of Pneumonia

Children are still dying around the world because the pneumonia vaccine roll-out has been delayed by the weighty payment demands from an international health alliance. Around 700,000 children die from pneumonia yearly, many of which occur in African nations that can’t foot the bill. The COVID-19 vaccines were rolled out very quickly, so there’s no reason why this crucial and effective vaccine should be delayed any longer. Please sign this petition to demand that Gavi adjust its payment requirements for the pneumonia vaccine!

3. Hold People Accountable for Harassing Dolphins in Hawaii

U.S. authorities are investigating an alleged incident where over 30 swimmers in Hawaii were harassing the local dolphins. Videos and photos were taken during the event, and they even showed several baby dolphins in the pod. It’s illegal to approach or be within 50 yards of Hawaiian spinner dolphins. Please sign this petition to demand that federal law enforcement take this incident seriously and hold these people accountable!

4. Ban Man Who Burned and Beat a Dog from Ever Having Animals Again

Authorities in Alabama found a severely neglected and abused dog after responding to a domestic violence abuse call. The dog was barely alive, had burns covering much of his body, had been beaten, and was starving. The treatments to keep him alive will cost many thousands of dollars and round-the-clock care from veterinarians. Please sign this petition to urge authorities in Jefferson County to never allow this person near animals again!

5. Urge the FTC to Regulate Virtual Healthcare

More and more people have been signing up for mental health treatment online, especially since the pandemic began. One of these mental health platforms, BetterHelp, has been selling its customers’ data to outside platforms. BetterHelp seems more concerned with turning a profit than its clients’ well-being, and sadly there is no law to protect against this. Please sign this petition to urge the FTC to implement regulations for virtual healthcare!

6. Help Protect Endangered Whales from Vessel Strikes

Rice’s whales, who inhabit the Gulf of Mexico, are slowly disappearing. Less than 100 of these majestic and endangered marine animals are left. Luckily, there’s a solution to this problem that could potentially be very effective. Since Rice’s whales spend much of their time near the water’s surface, they are much more susceptible to vessel strikes. Creating a mandatory speed limit within their habit could drastically limit these incidents. Please sign this petition to urge NOAA to implement a speed limit of 10 knots in their habitat and help protect Rice’s whales!

7. Tell Kroger to Remove Live Lobster Tanks from Its Stores

Lobsters are sentient marine animals who can live up to 100 years in the wild, yet Kroger grocery stores keep them in small, crowded tanks with their claws tied together for days or even weeks before they’re finally killed. On top of this, an analysis has shown that improved conditions still amount to immense suffering for these animals. Please sign this petition to urge Kroger to remove live lobster tanks from its stores!

8. Tell NYC Mayor Eric Adams to Restructure Policies to Better Protect Houseless People

Jordan Neely, a houseless man, was put in a headlock and killed by a fellow passenger on the New York City subway after he began to vent his frustrations of being “fed up and hungry.” Even though the death was ruled a homicide by a medical examiner, no charges have been filed. Many houseless advocates believe that the city’s rhetoric and policies regarding houseless people created the kind of environment for this incident to occur. Please sign this petition to urge Mayor Eric Adams to restructure his policies to protect houseless people!

9. Help Make Sure These Animal-Abusing Farmers Are Never Allowed to Have Animals Again

Last year, authorities discovered a grisly scene on an Iowa farm. The property was filled with countless animal corpses in varying stages of decay, pigs were eating mud because they didn’t have food, and many animals had diseases. More than 140 animals were rescued from the farm, but many were in such bad shape that they couldn’t be saved. Please sign this petition to demand that the couple who owned the farm never be allowed to have animals again!

10. Tell Congress to Cancel All Medical Debt in the United States

More than 100 million Americans are in medical debt, and many believe they will never be able to pay it off. Sadly, many people in medical debt are the most vulnerable in our society, those who can’t afford insurance or have sup-par coverage. This can severely impact a person’s finances and even stop them from seeking medical care in the future. Please sign this petition to urge Congress to cancel medical debt once and for all!
