It’s horrible to hear about animal abuse cases or read the ways humans are endangering many species. Fortunately, there are things we can do to speak for them. One of the ways we can help and lend our voices to good causes is by signing petitions. Such petitions are sent to people in powerful positions that can make a change, especially when they see just how many people stand behind the cause. We can demand change, justice, and stop tragedies by speaking up and doing our part.
There are horrifying things happening around the world every week like extinction, hunting, exploitation, and cruelty. If you are looking for a way to help animals, here are 10 petitions you should sign this week, including a woman beating her dog with boxing gloves on a video, factory farming, and fur farming.
We want to thank you for being the change you wish to see in the world and giving a voice to the voiceless.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) aims to conserve and protect fish, wildlife, and plants. Yet, the Trump administration hired someone who worked for Safari Club International (they sell permits and auction trophy hunts and are involved in trading body parts of endangered animals) to work for the FWS. He chose Anna Seidman, who was the lawyer for Safari Club International for 20 years and often filed lawsuits against the FWS. Sign this petition calling for the removal of Seidman in this position before more animals suffer and die.

The carcass of a female Borneo elephant was found near the Malua Forest Reserve. She was believed to have been poisoned. The post-mortem report found bleeding in the spleen and kidney including ulcers. Sign this petition calling on Nasri Mansor, Lahad Datu Police Chief, to launch an investigation into the death of this poor elephant.
Source: Woman Beats Her Dog With Boxing Gloves On Camera, No Charges Laid
A video was posted to Snapchat of a woman beating her dog with boxing gloves. She hits him over and over again hard as he yelps. She says in the video “I hit him so hard I felt that through…” before the video cuts off. This is completely unacceptable. The Idaho Humane Society has stated that the case is under review at the local prosecutor’s office. But what is there to review? There is a recording posted by the perpetrator herself of obvious animal abuse, a crime that carries a $5,000 fee and up to 6 months in jail in her area. Sign this petition demanding that the abuser be punished to the fullest extent of the law and that the dog is rehomed!
Source: Ban fur farms in the U.S. now!
Methods used to kill animals for their fur include gassing, electrocution, and neck breaking. Fur-bearing animals are also caught and killed in barbaric body-gripping traps. Fur “farms” or “ranches” are not humane alternatives to trapping. The terms are euphemisms used by the fur industry to describe confinement facilities in which fur-bearing animals are caged and killed. Currently, there are no federal laws providing protection for the millions of animals held in these factory-like farms. Sign this petition calling for an end to fur farms in the U.S.
Source: 1 in 5 Animals in This Zoo Mysteriously Died in 2018!
Freedom for Animals found that 1 in 5 of animals died during 2018 at Borth Wild Animal Kingdom in Wales. The zoo had long been accused of mistreating their animals and now there’s evidence. The zoo started gaining notoriety when a lynx escaped and was gunned down. Then, another lynx was somehow strangled to death during a move. It seems things went wrong when new owners acquired the zoo – a volunteer accused them of neglect and keeping animals in improper conditions. Tortoises, meerkats, primates, and crocodiles are just some of the animals that have lost their lives at the horrible zoo. Sign this petition if you agree that the zoo needs to be shut down and every animal needs to be taken to a reputable sanctuary.
Source: Factory Farming Is Devastating for Animals and the People Who Work on Them
Factory farms are a nightmare for everyone involved, from the animals housed there to the humans who work there. Chickens, pigs, and other animals are packed into tightly crowded barns and raised with minimal contact or affection. For workers, being on a factory farm involves long, grueling hours with few employment protections, for extremely low pay. We know that factory farms are bad for animals, bad for humans, and bad for the environment. Sign this petition calling for an end to factory farming!

Etsy, an online craft marketplace, has a global network of more than one million sellers. Over 9,000 of their retailers sell fur from all over the globe. Just because it’s legal in the U.S. to sell most furs, it does not mean it is the right thing to do. Whether they are trapped or “farmed” for their fur, animals experience extreme pain and suffering. Sign this petition demanding that Etsy stop opening up their marketplace to those who sell fur.
Source: Urge the Philippine Government to deny the capture of wild monkeys for research purposes
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in the Philippines has received an application asking to capture wild long-tailed macaques (Macaca fascicularis spp. philippensis) for research purposes. This could mean a revival in farms breeding and exporting macaques for research, using newly trapped monkeys as a source. Sign this petition asking the Philippine Government not to allow the capture of wild monkeys!
Source: Punish Animal Abuser Who Killed His Dog With A Pocket Knife!
A man in Glasgow, Scotland named Alan Cumberland killed his dog by stabbing him with a pocket knife. This is horribly cruel and unacceptable. Sign this petition to demand that he be punished for his crimes and that animal abusers like him never be allowed to have animals again.
Source: Big Cats Aren’t Pets — So Why Is Owning Them Still Legal?
There are more tigers in American backyards than there are in the wild. “Thousands of big cats are currently owned as pets or maintained in ill-equipped roadside zoos and menageries, which pose a severe risk to the safety of people in surrounding communities, as well as the welfare of the cats themselves,” says Born Free USA CEO Prashant Khetan. Sign this petition to Support the Big Cat Public Safety Act.
