While many people assume that the production of milk requires no death or cruelty, this couldn’t be farther from the truth. The dairy industry is responsible for so much more cruelty than one can even imagine.
Every year, 9.3 million cows are impregnated, 4.9 million male calves are killed, 4.9 million female calves bred to be dairy cows, and 3 million mother cows who can no longer be bred are slaughtered. These astonishing figures become even more heartbreaking when you take a moment to consider each and every mother and baby who is a victim of this cruel industry. They are all individuals who feel pain, sadness, joy, and excitement. They all deserve to live in peace rather than being abused and exploited.
With so many non-dairy options available, it’s time to stop supporting this cruel industry and the harm they cause to millions of cows every year.
