Just when a rescue team member at Hope For Paws thought their day was over, they received an emergency call about an adult cat on the 91 Freeway!

After Nelly Barajas discovered the scared cat, she knew to run under her car, and then climbed up and disappeared. This was a very dangerous situation considering that they were on the freeway in the dark. Not only was the poor cat’s safety at risk but the rescuers were in danger as well with cars flying by at top speeds.
After taking a closer look, it was determined that the cat was not actually in the engine, but was hiding somewhere near the back area of her car. Since it was too dangerous to continue the rescue on the freeway, Hope For Paws instructed Nelly to drive at 2 mph to give the cat a chance to survive in case she falls or decides to jump off. With the help of the California Highway Patrol, the animal rescue team was able to safely rescue the cat from inside the car, and bring her back to the shelter to be examined!
