Someone injured this poor dog and left her outside in the cold during a snowstorm. She was limping around, without anywhere to go. While at first, she didn’t trust @burkerescues, they lured her in with some food. It was clear that she was malnourished and in desperate need of care and kindness.  It was getting. dark, so her rescuers managed to get close enough to grab her and bring her to safety.

For these innocent animals, being left out alone in the cold is terrifying. It is cruel to leave pets outside in the cold. It’s a common belief that dogs and cats are more resistant than people to cold weather because of their fur, but it’s untrue. Like people, cats and dogs are susceptible to frostbite and hypothermia and should be kept inside.

If you witness suspected cruelty to animals, call your local animal control agency as soon as possible or dial 9-1-1 if you’re unfamiliar with local organizations, says The Humane Society.
