Ocean Conservation Namibia posts the most amazing seal rescue videos! They free so many seals from nets, plastic, and other kinds of waste. Their videos are not only inspiring but also act as important reminders as to how our reliance on plastic is detrimental to wildlife. While people often associate plastic Pollution with bags, straws, and containers, one of the most common and most dangerous types of plastic pollution is discarded fishing gear.
In this video, Antoine, Denzil, and Naude noticed a seal pup that had a deep cut with a little bit of fishing line in it. They caught the seal and found that he had a thin strand of gillnet digging into his flesh. The resultant wound was extremely deep and likely, very painful. Luckily, the rescuers were careful when taking ou the strand and said that saltwater would both clean as well as heal the wound.
After being freed from this piece of fishing supplies, the pup was able to rejoin all of his friends and start healing. To see more of these amazing rescues, check out Ocean Conservation Namibia’s Youtube channel. To Support them, subscribe to their Patreon or donate here!
