COVID-19 has affected so many people and there is no way to prepare for what might happen when you’re infected. No one can be completely prepared for living through a pandemic. So many people’s lives were drastically changed. One man was hospitalized due to the coronavirus symptoms he was experiencing and he was worried about his dog who he had to leave behind. Thankfully, he received help.

The man, who has a houseboat in Florida, was understandably very concerned for his dog after being hospitalized. He reached out to the sheriff’s office with a desperate plea. Fortunately, they heard his concerns and decided to save his dog’s life!

According to CBS News, “The Martin County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit worked with Animal Services Officers to rescue the dog while keeping the officers boarding the boat safe.” The officers were in full personal protective gear when boarding the boat. They took the dog, a beautiful German Shepherd, to a facility where she will be taken care of while her owner recovers.

Fortunately, she will be okay, but there are other dogs who still need help. Shelter animals are in more need of volunteers to foster and adopt than ever. Sign this petition pledging to help shelters during this crisis by donating, fostering, or adopting!
