Cats are sleepy creatures and spend most of their day snoozing, but what does your cat’s sleeping position mean?

How a cat sleeps just might be able to give you insight into how they are feeling and what they are thinking.

A belly-up cat, for instance, is showing that they trust you completely as their belly is a very vulnerable body part. This is a sign of complete contentment and trust.

A cat that is sleeping in a curled-up position wants to enjoy their rest time undisturbed. This is a traditional sleeping position for cats as it protects them and conserves their heat.

A cat that sleeps with their eyes only half shut is a clear sign that they are on their guard and don’t feel completely safe. This might be an indication that they need more alone time or a quieter living space.

The loaf of bread sleeping position is a clear indicator that your furry friend is happy and content. This is also a great way for them to keep their toes warm during the colder months of the year.

If your cat likes to sleep on top of you, this usually means that they see you as a form of protection. Sleeping on their human is also a good way to stay warm and cozy.

A cat that sleeps stretched out feels comfortable and trusting of their environment. This position shows that they do not feel like they need to be on guard.

These are just a few insights into the mind of our feline friends, as they have many other forms of body language that we can analyze.
