A sweet animal lover in Mexico caught the hearts of many on the Internet after she made her final wish to help local animals in need. She requested that instead of bringing her flowers, her friends and family would bring food for the animals at the shelter.

Mundo Animal Reynosa, an animal rescue center in Reynosa, Mexico, shared a Facebook post remembering the life of their friend, Eva María García Dávila.

“RIP Eva María Garcia Davila. That a person’s love for animals can be so great that he thought of them until the last of his days and even later, Mrs. Eva María asked as a last wish that instead of bringing her flowers, they would bring her food for animals.”

“This food is blessed and we will share that blessing with those who need it most. It will be delivered to our fellow rescuers who take care of little streets every day. To honor and fulfill the wish of Mrs. Eva Maria, an angel for Animals 🙏🏼🕊”

She was always helping animals in any way that she could. Mexico is known to have the largest population of stray dogs in Latin America, between 15 and 18 million. The shelters often rely on support from the public. Sweet and caring people like Eva are such a great help to shelters.

A worker from the shelter told Newsweek, “Since the first message from the family letting us know about Ms. Eva’s last will, my eyes got teary. My voice cracks every time I think of her because I know she was a true animal lover. Very few people these days care for animals, and Mrs. Eva was one of those special people.”

People took to the Facebook post’s comments to share their thoughts on this wonderful and selfless last gesture. One person wrote, “A big heart. God bless her when thinking of these innocent beings until her last breath.” while another said, “RIP. Thank you for supporting those beautiful beings who give us so much love.”

The shelter has shared that the food will go to dogs in need, just like Mrs. Eva would have wanted.

At the end of the post, the shelter said, “We really don’t have words to express what we feel after such a beautiful gesture. Thank you, Mrs. Eva, Thank you.” Sign this petition to save the animals!
