Although some pets might not mind being dressed up, the RSPCA told BBC Newsround that it could be “worrying and even scary” for some animals. Dogs, for example, may feel discomfort or suffer breathing problems in a costume.

“It’s really important that pet owners think about how dressing up pets can make them feel, as whilst some animals may not mind being dressed up, other pets may find this worrying and even scary,” the RSPCA told BBC Newsround.

The RSPCA said that pet clothes that serve a purpose, like if it is cold or to prevent them from licking a wound are ok, but they should not be forced into a tiny outfit.

Although our furry friends might look even more adorable in costumes, we need to put their health and wants first. Don’t force your animal to wear a costume, no matter how cute you think it is. Your pet’s health comes first. Check out these 8 Tips for Every Pet Guardian to Keep in Mind This Halloween!
