Florida’s black bears were once nearly extinct, and only careful Conservation has brought them back. Now officials want to undo decades of progress by allowing hunters to kill up to 187 bears in just 23 days this December. Bears could be chased with bait, arrows, and, starting in 2027, even dogs.

This isn’t Conservation. Experts say the state is relying on rough population estimates, not a full count. Many bear populations remain vulnerable, and history shows the devastation—back in 2015, 300 bears were slaughtered in only 48 hours, including pregnant mothers and cubs.

Black bears already face shrinking habitats, car strikes, and human expansion. Adding a trophy hunt risks collapsing their recovery altogether.

Sign the petition now to urge Florida officials to cancel this cruel and unnecessary hunt. Together, we can protect black bears for future generations.
