In Canton, Ohio, a woman has been arrested for allegedly killing and eating a cat in public. Allexis Ferrell, 27, was accused of brutally stomping on the cat’s head outside a housing complex on Friday. Eyewitnesses reported seeing the violent attack, after which Ferrell allegedly consumed the remains of the dead animal.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found Ferrell squatting next to the cat’s lifeless body, with blood on her hands and feet, and fur visible on her lips. Ferrell did not own the cat, and her violent actions left many in the community horrified. She was arrested and charged with multiple felonies and misdemeanors. Ferrell, who has a criminal history including theft and child endangerment, is currently being held on a $100,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for later this month.

This incident comes at a time when Ohio’s animal welfare organizations are urging the public to take greater responsibility for their pets. The Fulton County Humane Society recently made an impassioned plea for people to treat their animals with care and respect. They criticized the growing trend of people abandoning pets, especially when they become difficult to manage, and emphasized the need for individuals to act as responsible pet parents.
